Single Serving Slashers Appreciation Month - ”New Years Evil”
Wednesday Oct 12, 2022
Wednesday Oct 12, 2022
October is upon us and we here at Cinema Degeneration thought it was time for another Appreciation Month topic! We bring to you a celebration of 'Single Serving Slashers', slasher movies that never got a sequel. There are plenty of chapters in the sagas of Chucky, Jason, and Freddy; however, we wanted to honor those often overlooked slashers that only graced the screen in one thrilling film. For our 3rd outing we are full steam ahead and going back's to the 80's with "NEW YEARS EVIL" from 1980. Directed by Emmett Alston and introducing Grant Cramer, this slasher carried on a popular late 70's /early 80's theme with the movie being centered around a holiday. This slasher has our killer hacking his way through victims at the stroke of midnight across all time zones, with a rock-n-roll DJ being threatened as his final victim. Join hosts Cameron Scott and Scott Tepperman (Los Bastardz Productions) as they take a deep dive into this little seen gem that shows that you don't dare to make new years resolutions unless you plan on living!
"Some kind of voice you got there. You sound like the Phantom."

For our 2nd episode we are continuing the adventures with the criminally underrated "BEHIND THE MASK: THE RISE OF LESLIE VERNON" from 2006. This Scott Glosserman directed classic stars Nathan Baesel as title character Leslie Vernon, and has a supporting genre veteran cast featuring Robert Englund, Scott Wilson and Zelda Rubenstein. A meta tale set in a world where ALL the classic slasher characters are very much real. We follow a documentary crew as they embark along with Leslie to find out just how they do what they do and explore all the tropes and lore within the genre. Join Cameron Scott and mega-fan Deryk Wehrley (who has infamously cosplayed as Leslie and created exclusive artwork of Leslie) as they dissect this flick and discuss why Mr. Vernon is the unsung hero of the slasher genre.

Wednesday Oct 05, 2022
October is upon us and we here at Cinema Degeneration thought it was time for another Appreciation Month topic! We bring to you a celebration of 'Single Serving Slashers', slasher movies that never got a sequel. There are plenty of chapters in the sagas of Chucky, Jason, and Freddy; however, we wanted to honor those often overlooked slashers that only graced the screen in one thrilling film. We are starting off the adventures with the unique Canadian thriller "RITUALS" from 1977, starring Hal Holbrook and Lawrence Dane (who also served as the film's producer). This harrowing tale follows a group of doctors/friends who go off into the rocky Canadian wilderness and end up being stalked and killed off one by one by a disfigured killer lurking in the shadows. Join Cameron Scott and guest host Tim O'Saben (Synapse Films Podcast) as they discuss this hidden gem and go off on rants from everything from 'The Fog' to 'Friday the 13th Part 2'. This flick just goes to prove that sometimes if you go into the woods you'll be in for a BIG surprise.
